Knights of Columbus Council 7399

Business (General) Meeting

November 9, 2023


Call to Order-Grand Knight Lou Manz called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM


Opening Prayer-Chaplain Father Andy Mitera led the Opening Prayer.


Pledge of Allegiance-Grand Knight let the Pledge of Allegiance.


Approve Minutes of Prior Meeting-The Minutes of Prior Meeting were unanimously approved.


Chaplain’s Message-Father Mitera thanked the Knights for their Service to the Parish and to the Parish Bazaar.


Grand Knight Reported that there would be a special Mass dedicated to Veterans at 5:00 Mass Saturday November 11. Brother Dan Wehby reported there would be a social after the Mass.


Grand Knight reported that Father Andy has agreed to a Parish Pro Life Event at Family For Life once per month on the Third Tuesday of each month. David Coughlin will confirm with Family For Life.


Grand Knight’s Report-Grand Knight thanked everyone for their hard work at various events the last several weeks. Grand Knight then reported:

1) December combined Christmas Social will be on December 14 at 6:30pm.

2) November Social will be on November 30 at 6:30 pm.

3) will be activating the Trustees to follow up on delinquent dues, neighborhood of $5400 delinquent.

4) Deputy Grand Knight Roger Davey has been able to get the BINGO contribution to the Church in the bulletin.

5) The Knights are beginning an award program for attendance objectives.

6) All upcoming events are detailed on the Knights of Columbus Website and the Weekly Newsletter.


Officers’ Reports

Treasurer-Treasurer Michael Gambone Reported checking account balances as of 10/31/2023:

1) Council Account# 1803-$2,083.92

2) Money Market Account#4963-$3,102.02

3) Charity Account# 0010-$18,471.05

4) BINGO Account#3255-$8,541.88


Financial Secretary-Financial Secretary Dave counts reported:

1) We have 207 Members.

2) 1 new member transferred

3) Christmas Cards not yet received.


Trustees-Truestee Renato Sciumbata wishes to start canvasing people for to serve as Officers for the forthcoming year.


Program Reports

Faith Director-Still open. No Report.

Family Director-Ryan Ramirez. Absent. No Report.

Community Director-Dan Costello. Absent. However, Grand Knight Reported

1) The Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Distribution is coming up. The Knights will be accepting non-perishable food items and gift cards from parishioners. Will be collecting through December 10.

2 The Free Throw Challenge will be at local public schools Jaqnuary 8 through 12. Volunteers needed.

3)Tootsie Roll Drive will be on the weekend of January 20th and 21st at PUBLIX and after Masses


Life Director-David Coughlin had no additional report. However he will look in to the fundraiser for St Gerard House.


Hispanic Roundtable-Grand Knight spoke with Jose Ramirez who stated that there was no interest among members for a Roundtable. However-Edgardo has some ideas to reactivate the Roundtable. Edgardo was absent from this meeting.


Standing Committees

BINGO-Financial Secretary Reported that the last BINGO raised $272 for the 50/50 Raffle, $2,742 in BINGO Sales. 162 players.


Chalice Transfer-Grand Knight reports the Monthly Chalice Transfer has begun. Once a month transfer in place to neighborhood committees.


Degree Team-Pete Sikora absent. No Report


Breakfast Committee-Jay Heather and Dan Costello were absent, however Grand Knight reported that the next breakfast will be December 10. Volunteers needed as Jay Heather will not be available.


Charity Committee-Has not yet met.


Harvest Food Run-Grand Knight Reported the Harvest Food Run will be suspended due to inadequate participation from local restaurants.


Old Business

Assistance for Mark Struhar-Dave Coughlin reported that Joel D Kendrick is trying to raise 1 years worth of monthly rides from the facility in Middleburg to St Catherine's Church. The cost of a monthly ride equates to roughly $1700 per year. $700 was already pledged by an anonymous donor. Dave asks to pledge money privately to Joel to support this. Joel is working with Mark's wife. Joel will provide an accounting on funds raised and funds spent.

Coats for Kids-$300 donated by Council


Communications-Grand Knight reported that the Council will be supporting 5 seminarians this year.


Grand Knight Reported we will be having Membership Drives and Benefit Nights in January and April.
