Council Officers Installed for the 2023-2024 Fraternal Year

The new Officers for St. Catherine of Siena Council 7399 were installed for Fraternal Year 2023-2024 on Saturday, July 29. The installation began with the 5:00 pm Vigil Mass celebrated by the Pastor and Council Chaplain, Fr. Andrzej Mitera. It was fitting that Brother Knights Deacon Larry Hart and Altar Server, Frank Vallecourt assisted Fr. Andy; while Brother Knight Dr. Gene Harris sang the Responsorial Psalm.

Fr. Albert Shuyaka, a missionary priest from the Congo in Africa, spoke to us about the Sisters of Tshumbe who work to care for the people in that area. An area that has the world's highest maternal and infant mortality rate and many who suffer from Malaria, Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and various other diseases.

Immediately following Mass, District Deputy and Brother Knight, Tom Scherch, conducted the Knights of Columbus Installation of Officers ceremony. Chaplain Fr. Andrzej Mitera presided. Several members of the congregation stayed for the ceremony.

After the Chaplain blessed the jewels worn by the officers at Council meetings, the medals were placed around the necks of the new officers. Wives who were present were invited to place the jewels around their husband's necks; whereupon, they were presented with a long-stem red rose.

Several officers had previous commitments and were unable to attend the event. In their place, brothers from the Council were asked to fill in. Substitutes included Dan Wehby for Deputy Grand Knight, Roger Davey; Captain Bill Kennedy for Chancellor, Joe Caso; and John Banaszak for Trustee and Past Grand Knight, Jay Heather.

The District Deputy led the Officers as they repeated the pledges they took when they joined the Knights of Columbus. After forming a cross, symbolizing the Knights commitment to Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the installation ceremony was completed.

The small group remaining after the installation enjoyed desserts in Lademia Hall in the Family Life Center at St. Catherine of Siena.
