Flordeliza Munford Named Family of the Month for March

It is not often that the Family of the Month is given to a person.  But, sometimes, a single person can do the amount of work that it might take a family to achieve.

This person has been a member of St. Catherine of Siena for sixteen years.  She is a full-time volunteer at the Parish and a fixture in the Parish Family Life Center kitchen.  She can be seen there smiling and being so humble to all those in the kitchen; from the most experienced to the neophytes trying to find pots and utensils!

In her capacity, she is a great servant to bereavement events, the Knights of Columbus Bingos, annual Youth Fish Fries, the Sulzbacher Center, the Orange Park Soup Kitchen, altar flowers, aide-de-camp to the Officer Manager, and Offertory counter.

She is extremely active in the Filipino-American Community of St. Catherine.

She enjoys softball and badminton and dabbles as a travel agent for fun.

There is a rumor going around that she had a secret bedroom built into the Family Life Center so she can sleep between events. 

Not many people know this but she attended Urban Plunge for three years (2017 through 2019) with her wonderful daughter, Monette, before she left to attend the University of Florida.  While on the trip in 2018, Plungers were notified that the Parish Hall, where they prepared and ate meals, made lunches, and hung out at night was going to be fumigated.

With only an hour’s notice she calmly and quickly organized and helped Plungers remove all their gear from the hall and kitchen into one of school’s Kindergarten rooms, which she turned into a makeshift kitchen and set up another room for dining.  48 Plungers came together daily to say “Grace” and eat their breakfasts and dinners there for the week.

She is a truly great example of stewardship, giving of her time, talent, and treasure.  For her many contributions to her parish, community, and the Knights of Columbus, the Council recognizes Flordeliza Munford as our Family of the Month for March.
