When the Knights of Columbus Council 7399 was in need of a Recorder to fill out their Officer Corps for the 2023-2024 Fraternal Year, this brother was asked if he was interested in the position. After reviewing the duties of the post, he jumped right in. The Recorder position is one that must be filled in order to conduct meetings and create a permanent record of proceedings. This was to be his first stint in the Officer Corps of the Council.
He is a native of Pittsfield, Massachusetts. An Accounting Manager for W.W. Gay Fire Integration, he also runs his own Tax Accounting Business. He and his wife, Ginger (Grospitch), had their fill of New England winters and relocated to Florida in 2011, and have been enjoying the state ever since.
He was on the Finance Committee of his former parish of St. Theresa, in New Haven, Connecticut. It is there at St. Theresa, that he first became a member of the Knights of Columbus. He put this experience on the Finance Committee when he became the Parish Council President at St. Catherine of Siena in 2014.
He joined the Knights of Columbus to become part of a fraternity of like-minded Catholic gentlemen. He has always appreciated the good works of the Knights of Columbus and their service to the Parish and the community. The organization has lived up to his lofty expectations. His son, Logan, is a member of the Knights of Columbus as well.
Besides holding the position of Recorder for the Council, he is a Bingo Caller at the Bingos, hosted by the Knights of Columbus on the first and third Fridays of each month. He has been instrumental in arranging transportation for a home-bound parishioner. He is still devoted to St. Catherine of Siena as a dedicated lector and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. He is enrolled in the Ministry Formation program with his long term goal being to enroll in Permanent Deaconate Training.
He enjoys Jacksonville Jaguar football and is a season ticket holder for Jaguar home games. He enjoys raising eight cats and finding new ways to keep his Florida lawn healthy and looking good. He spends his spare time as an officer of a Springfield Massachusetts Major League Baseball Statistics Group, which he founded in college at American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts.
For his service to his Parish, his brother Knights, and the Knights of Columbus, the Council selects Joel D. Kendrick as its Knight of the Month for July 2023.
Congratulations, Joel!
